Baby J. Pics

Each day with my precious boy is like living with a little piece of heaven. Johnathan is so much fun to be with, and is showing more of his cute personality. He is a very happy baby, and is starting to interact with his little world. It's so much fun to watch! He does this cute little thing where he turns his head really quickly to the side when he gets really excited. You can kind of see it in the middle picture below. If I'm holding him, and someone else is making him smile and giggle he'll turn his head into me, and it's sooo cute!

Ah, Sweet Payback

Some years ago, when I was a wee child, a story was born that goes something like this...

...while bouncing me up and down on his knee, my dad noticed a warm sensation on his leg. Looking down he saw that I had deposited a not so good smelling gift all over his leg! I don't think that my dad (or his pants) were ever the same again!

Well, yesterday was the mother of all paybacks. Johnathan, Aaron and I were having a great evening together. And, while Baby J. still hadn't had a BM all day, I wasn't too concerned, knowing that around this stage of his life they will be less and less frequent. About 8:30 in the evening, his little tummy started gurgling, and then came the floods...or should I say the muds! It was poop city, and guess who it got all over? Me! I instantly thought back to my own day of poopville all over my dad, and I just laughed, and took a pic! See below!

After the blow-out, Johnathan and I both got a bath, and afterwards Baby J. promptly fell asleep on his daddy's lap. I caught a couple of cute shots of that too...notice the big chubby cheek that is resting on his chest!

Playin' with Daddy

Here's a short little video of Baby J. hanging out with Daddy. Thankfully Aaron let me catch a few extra Z's yesterday morning, and while I was sawing logs he took this video of our sweet boy.

All Smiles

I caught some cute pictures of Johnathan smiling the other day, and of course had to share them here. It's so much fun to watch his budding personality. He is a pretty happy baby, and each morning I get to wake up to smiles like these...man, am I blessed!

Happy Baby

Story Time

Today Johnathan "learned" his animal sounds. We read one of his books together, and went over all the animals and and what noises they make. Johnathan seemed to like the cow the best, something about how they give us milk caught his attention! Hehe! :)

Sleeping Angel

Yesterday Baby J took a nap on our bed. He had just gotten out of his bath, and I set him on my pillow, and he promptly fell asleep, so of course I took it as an opportunity to get some cute pics! He looked like an angel! An adorable chubby angel with a paci!

Alligator Tears

Yesterday Johnathan had his 2 month vaccinations, and boy, did they do a number on him! He had 6 in all, 3 taken orally, and 3 in a shot form. All went pretty okay in the doctor's office...meaning he cried, but not too much. I almost cried seeing him there in pain, but was able to hold it together. Thanks to Aaron, I had to be the one standing there with Johnathan while he got poked. I wanted Aaron to be the one who Johnathan stared up to while being shot 3 times in his little legs, but no, I was the one that he looked up at. When I asked Aaron to stand with him he said, and I quote, "no, remember, I'm the fun one." Gee thanks, Aaron!

Anyways, once we got home yesterday after Johnathan's visit he did okay until about an hour after we got back, and then it was scream, scream, scream! The poor little guy cried until his voice got hoarse. It was so sad watching him cry out in pain. He would quiet down for a bit, but as soon as he moved his little legs he would cry again...huge alligator tears, let me tell you! Eventually (after about 5-6 hours) the Tylenol that we'd given him kicked in, and around 6:30 last night he started to feel better. I was SO glad that something was able to give him relief. It was so hard as a mommy to have to hold his precious little aching body and not be able to do anything about it.

All is well today (so far!), and he seems to be feeling almost 100%. This experience caused me to reflect back on my own childhood, and I remember the love and gentleness my parents showed me when I was feeling under the weather. When I would get sick, I remember my dad telling me that he wished that he could take all my pain and put it on himself. Yesterday, I felt that same desire, and would have taken Johnathan's pain for my own too if possible. I guess I now have even more appreciation for the care I was given as a child. This parenting stuff is not for the faint of heart! It is worth every second though, that's for sure.

For the Fathers

It is once again that time of year when we celebrate and honor the dads in our lives. So guys, this one's for you.

Dad, when I think of you a smile comes to my face. You've always been a source of comfort, encouragement and love. I don't think that any daughter has been more loved by a father (unless you count my five other sisters!). Thanks for always being there for me, and for the wonderful home you provided for me while I was growing up. It was great getting to re-live the comfort of childhood for the last several weeks while we were up visiting y'all. There's still nothing quite like home. I will always consider where you are home, Daddy. I love you. Happy Father's Day.

Robert, although you're not my dad, you've still been a fatherly figure in my life. I remember in the early days of my relationship with Aaron how your fatherly wisdom and advice was a great help, and it still is! Thank you especially for being such a great dad to Aaron. It is so wonderful to be a part of the Aldape family, and I will be forever greatful for the role you play in my and Aaron's life...and Johnathan's too. Happy Father's Day.

Aaron, this day has been a long time in coming. Happy Father's Day. I know that I don't need to write down all that this day means to you, but when I look into your eyes on this happy day, we will both understand what today really means. Bittersweet? Yes, but the joy that is now in your face every time you look at your precious son eases the hurt, and makes the memories of our other sweet boys even more memorable. I love you, daddy of my babies. I love you, husband, my true love. My soulmate and friend.

Many blessings to each of you,
Grace

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

In true American form and tradition, Johnathan had his first experience "watching" a baseball game. While up in the DFW area on our month long vacation, we visited the Frisco Roughriders, and enjoyed one of America's favorites pastimes, apple pie excluded.

While at the game, Johnathan's cousin, Miles, was captured on the "Jumbotron" and featured as one of the biggest fans of the game, and Baby J. even made an appearance on the big screen once while "Take me out to the ballgame" was played. It was a fun evening, and we were able to capture a few pics of our time at the game.

A Star is Born

I may be biased, but I think that Johnathan is a natural in front of the camera. He has a smile that will make you just melt, and a laugh that would make anyone's day. Here is a video of our sweet little munchkin! ( I was going to add a couple of movies, but I've been waiting about 40 minutes so far for this one to load, so it's going to be just one video for today!)
